Immunohistochemical expression of endoglin (CD105) and von Willebrand factor in oral squamous cell carcinoma and its relationship with clinicopathological parameters
Conclusions The findings of this study suggest that vascular remodeling is involved in oral carcinogenesis, although there was no evidence of a significant association with clinical stage of lesions.

Inflammation-related induction of absent in melanoma 2 (AIM2) in vascular cells and atherosclerotic lesions suggests a role in vascular pathogenesis
Conclusions: ECs and VSMC are able to respond to inflammatory signals by upregulation of AIM2 expression, indicating a role of AIM2 in vascular pathogenesis.Clinical Relevance: This study revealed a prominent role of the interferon-γ–inducible double-stranded DNA sensor absent in melanoma (AIM2) in vascular inflammation. Immunohistochemical analysis suggested increased AIM2 expression in smooth muscle cells of atherosclerotic carotid lesions and the vasa vasorum of abdominal aortic aneurysms. In vitro stimulation of aortic endothelial cells and smooth muscle cells by inflammatory cytokines and double-stranded DNA drama...

The endothelial adrenomedullin-RAMP2 system regulates vascular integrity and suppresses tumour metastasis
Conclusion These findings indicate that the AM-RAMP2 system regulates vascular integrity, whereas RAMP2 deletion promotes vascular permeability and EndMT-like change within primary lesions and formation of pre-metastatic niches in distant organs by destabilizing the vascular structure and inducing inflammation. Vascular integrity regulated by the AM-RAMP2 system could thus be a hopeful therapeutic target for suppressing tumour metastasis.

Re “A Multidisciplinary Approach to Oncological Resections with Vascular Surgeons Improves Patient Outcomes”
We read with interest the article by Finlay et  al.1 and the accompanying editorial.2 This has highlighted an important but underappreciated aspect of vascular surgery in that we are often asked to help our oncological colleagues with major intra-abdominal resections but with little recognition or evaluation of the outcome of our practice. Unle ss we are embedded in the multidisciplinary process, this leads to the lack of an auditing process and true accountability. At the University Hospitals Birmingham unit, vascular surgeons help with iliac artery and vein dissection for melanoma, oncological resection for both intra-a...

Isolated Limb Infusion For Melanoma and Sarcoma Performed in the Endovascular Operating Room
Isolated limb infusion (ILI) is a minimally invasive technique of delivering regional chemotherapy in patients with locally advanced extremity melanoma or sarcoma who may otherwise require aggressive surgical resections or amputation. Prior reports generally describe catheter placement in the angiography suite and subsequent perfusion in the operating room (OR). We aim to demonstrate the feasibility and safety of combined angiography, catheterization and limb infusion in the endovascular OR conducted cooperatively by vascular and oncologic surgeons.

Influence of interleukins on prognosis of patients with oral squamous cells carcinoma
ABSTRACT Squamous cell carcinoma is a malignant neoplasm that affects the structures and tissues of the oral cavity. Interleukins (IL) synthesized from a tumor modulate a cascade reaction that may influence the prognosis of the disease. We aim to investigate in the literature whether interleukins are mediators that negatively or positively influence the prognosis of patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma. A systematic review study was performed according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyzes (PRISMA) instructions. PubMed (including MedLine), Scopus, Web of Science, SciELO and Latin A...

Rapidly growing pulmonary ground-glass nodule caused by metastatic melanoma lacking uptake on 18F-FDG PET-CT
The objective of this systematic review was to select articles including chest X-ray or chest CT findings in patients who developed pulmonary tuberculosis following solid organ transplantation (lung, kidney, or liver). The following search terms were used: “ tuberculosis ” ; “ transplants ” ; “ transplantation ” ; “ mycobacterium ” ; and “ lung ” . The databases used in this review were PubMed and the Brazilian Biblioteca Virtual em Sa úde (Virtual Health Library). We selected articles in English, Portuguese, or Spanish, regardless of the year of publication, that met the selection criteria in their ti...

Evaluation of inter-rater reliability of subjective and objective criteria for diagnosis of lymphedema in upper and lower limbs
CONCLUSION: Manual perimetry, medical criteria, and self-report of heaviness and/or swelling exhibited better agreement for upper limbs than for lower limbs for diagnosis of lymphedema.

Malignant Melanoma within a Cellular Blue Nevi Presenting as a Vascular Malformation and the Connection to Sporadic KRAS Mutations
We present a case of malignant melanoma (MM) developing within a vascular malformation showing features of cellular blue nevi. A 47-year-old male presented with acute symptoms of a temporal and zygomatic mass, which were both previously asymptomatic upon development 30 years ago. These masses were diagnosed as vascular malformations upon imaging and were treated with sclerotherapy. Embolization and surgical excision were performed 3 years later due to symptomatic growth. Final pathology reports showed MM with congenital blue nevi. We hypothesize a possible linkage to a sporadicKRAS mutation, linking both presentations of v...

Vascular and Neural Invasion in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma: A Study in an Iranian Population
CONCLUSION: The relation between neural and vascular invasion in OSCC with tumor's location was statistically significant. Lip and tongue carcinoma had shown more neurovascular invasion without relation to gender, age, and cell differentiation.PMID:37200766 | PMC:PMC10186046 | DOI:10.4103/abr.abr_220_21
